Fish, parties, and the bishop

What a strange combination of subjects. I guess I better explain.

My husband and I love to talk about our fish. We spend countless hours discussing their color, personalities (if they even really have them), care, etc. We love taking care of them. The kids seem to love them too.

It makes me happy that my husband and I have something we both like to do together.

We have been to several Christmas parties this year and we have had so much fun. The most recent one was the ward party. Lots of great people and even though I messed up really badly on the song I was playing, it was a good night.

As for the bishop, he and I talked today about prayer. Should be fun learning more about it. Finding answers to my many questions and discovering more about the power behind it.

Well, that's it. Hope you have a :0) day!!

Stake president, gingerbread house and two turtle doves

Yesterday I finally met the stake president. I called to get an appointment for my temple recommend and they had a cancellation so I was able to get in. he seemed very nice. We talked for a bit. He then conducted the interview and gave me my recommend.

After that, I came home and helped the  kids make a gingerbread house which was left on our porch for the first day of Christmas.

This morning as the kids were leaving for school, our secret Santa had hit again. The second day is two turtle doves, in the package was a box of dove soap and a bag of dove candy. Ha!!

This is fun.

Hope you have a :0) day!!

Completed

So yesterday, I successfully completed a challenge given to me by my bishop. I did it in record time too! So now that I've done that, I have decided to start again. I'm hoping to finish it again before the end of the year. That gives me two Weeks. That is not quite as fast, but it is still pretty fast.

So stay tuned to see if I can accomplish it. I'm hoping.

Hope you have a :0) day!

Finding the good in every day

I realize that I have not been the best at blogging lately. I am going to try to do better. I gave up Facebook for a while and decided to focus on blogging.

Times are not always easy, but this blog has taught me to find the good in each day.

This fall, I had the opportunity to go to TOFW (time out for women). The theme was Seek the Good. Now I have been doing this blog for several years now and I was used to looking for good things in every day, but it was nice to have the reminder to express the good.

So, after long thought and crazy awesome challenges from my  bishop (which inspired me to get off Facebook for a while), I am here to tell you about the happy things in my life.

I am glad I started this blog. It has been a great way to find the good things in my life. I know at times I have neglected it, but I'm very determined to get it back on the reading lists of my family and friends.

So now that we have all of that settled, let's talk about the good I found in yesterday.

My husband has an amazing boss. Not only did he make sure everyone was off to attend the work Christmas party, but he gave everyone a little bonus. Not a lot, but it will pay for our gas to see family this season. All of his Co workers are so nice.

I have amazing neighbors who bring me pot holders for Christmas after I was absolutely amazed at their work.
I have wonderful visiting teachers who are willing to help me out when I need it. One such visiting teacher watched the children so we could attend the work party.

I read a beautiful Christmas letter filled with faith and hope for a brighter new year. I also got some beautiful cards and wonderful pictures of my nieces and nephew.

I spent time with my beautiful children. I love talking to them every day after school.

Finally, I finished Alma and Helaman and I am half way through third Nephi (part of my challenge from the bishop).

So many things to be thankful for and so many good things happen every day. I'm glad I have a place to share it.

Have a :0) day!!!

Challenges

So as you all know, I moved to a new city this summer. It has been quite a transition. I have had to really push myself to get out there and make friends. I have quite a few friends now. I am getting used to getting around, and I'm finding some fun things around here.I'm sure there is still a lot more to find.

It has been interesting living in a bigger area. The last city we lived in was ginormous compared to where  we moved from. This area is way bigger than where we lived before this.

I never pictured myself living in a big city area, but I really like it here. We are closer to my husbands family and my family and it has been nice. We have seen all of then so much more living this much closer to them.

My husbands job is going really well and the kids have really adjusted. Me, well, I'm doing better. The first few months were kind of crazy, but I am starting to get used to it.

This last month has been hard though. I'm not sure why, whether it is the season, or what. I went into the bishop to have my temple recommend interview and I just had a breakdown in his office. He was so nice to sit and listen to me. I was given a challenge by him before I left his office. I am to read the Book of Mormon and highlight all the times when the lord strengthened the people.

I started my challenge in Wednesday of last week. I am almost done with Alma. I have never read it this fast. It has been so neat. I hope to be finished completely before the weekend is over.

Yesterday, I made the decision to not go on Facebook until after I finish the challenge, but then I decided to maybe keep off of it until after the new year. We shall see how long I last.

Anyway, things are getting better. I'm happier here than I was before. I miss my friends, and they will always be a part of my life. I wish I could take my friends with me, instead, I make more friends and I work hard to overcome my challenges.

Have a :0) day!!
