Oh my goodness! I get it!!!

Is it just me, or do you not just LOVE the moment in time that you figure something out. You know as that lightbulb clicks on above your head. I had one of those AHA moments today. It was great! I was thinking about how much darkness I had been through, and I was thinking about the post from last night and it hit me!

WE ALL have to go through a MIST OF DARKNESS as we hold to the IRON ROD before we get to the TREE!

Some of you may think, Yeah, DUH, I knew that but I have never felt more happy to realize that in my life. I don't know why such a simple thing would affect me the way it did today, but I am glad to say that it makes PERFECT SENSE now and I am happy it came to me the way it did and the time it did as well.

We must go through the darkness to appreciate the light

I often think about how much my life has changed over the last few years. I have learned many things in these few years. Many of which can not be shared here. Others, however, can be and I am here to tell you that it is very insightful when you are on this side of a trial, to be telling of the other side!

There was one day, I remember pretty clearly, that I decided I had done enough here on earth and no matter how hard I tried to convince myself, NO ONE would really miss me if I were gone. I was frustrated, it was cold, wet, and raining....a downpour if you will, and I was out on a walk. I didn't want to go home because of the frustrations and I thought it would be easier to just catch pneumonia and wither from existence. Other things happened that night and I recall thinking so deeply that no one would even know I was gone.    However, there was a little voice....small to say the least, that told me I was wrong. That I was needed and for one small second I believed it. One teeny tiny second....and that is all it took for me to turn around and go home.

It was soon after that in which I decided going to get help would not be a bad thing. I was at the lowest I had ever been in my life (which was pretty low)  and I couldn't do it on my own. I knew that I needed to ask. Asking had never been easy for me, but after that night, I had no choice.

People were called and spoken to, I found the strength to make appointments and call doctors and get the medications and the appointments I needed to start working on what would be some of the hardest times of my life. It wasn't easy. Often times I found myself wondering why I was even trying. For some reason I kept holding on. I kept working hard and trying to do better. Eventually it got easier, I found myself fighting to remain alive.

This isn't new information to most of you, as you know I was really bad off. Some may be wondering when and what really happened, and if you really want to know, feel free to ask me, I will tell you. Just know I will not sugar coat it.

My point is not even in the story I have just told you, but in the principle of the story. I didn't get anywhere without learning how.

I often say I will go back to school, to be honest with you, I am not sure if that will happen right now. I don't know why, but it just isn't the time. I want to continue learning and I know that I can not learn by just sitting here. There were times in those trials that learning was very important. I had to learn a lot to make it through them. I didn't do it alone. I had a master teacher, who through messengers, helped me to learn and grow. I became who I am today by going through these trials.

I do often look back on those times and wonder. I wonder what would have happened if I didn't get help. I wonder if I would have done something different in my life, if things would have been easier. I wonder a lot of things, but what it comes down to is that in life, you need trials to grow.

I honestly can not imagine my life without the many trials I have endured. I have seen a lot of things in my life, some people know about, others people have no clue. I have taken something from each trial and applied it to my life, I am becoming who I was meant to become.  I am very happy about that.

Looking back is hard sometimes, you see all the faults and mistakes you have made, you see the bad things that have happened to you, the heartaches, the frustrations, but now, for me I see the tender mercies that I have been given to make it through this life to the next.

So what is my point in all of this?? Trials will make you grow. Sometimes things may seem to be going against you, no matter how hard you are trying, and other times the wind may be at your back....just remember that you are who you are because of your trials and not just that but because of how you ENDURED through your trials. I hope to continue to endure through my trials. I know that sometimes they seem very heavy and daunting, but I know that if I continually turn to the Lord with Faith in prayer that I will have the strength to make it through.

So today as I reflect on the many dark times I faced in the past, I must remember this, that sometimes it takes a journey through a really dark place to really appreciate the Light!

Today while the sun shines!

Today while the sun shines, I am going to enjoy the day I have off. I am done working for the summer, unless by some miracle a job comes open that works with my schedule so my kids don't have to be home alone or with a sitter.

My plans for today are simple. ENJOY THE SUN!

Today has been a good day so far. I did 2 loads of laundry so far, and I have succeeded in writing in the kids MOMMY and ME journals.

I have had some amazing things happen and I will post about them soon.

Random acts of happiness

So I am sure it is not  a surprise to tell you that I am struggling with happiness. I don't know why, I just know that my heart is heavy. So this week I decided that helping others was on my to do list.

These are my random (and some not so random) acts of Happiness this week!

1. I let the kids ride their bikes and play outside....even though I would have rather stayed inside and moped on the couch.
2. I helped a friend by sewing the patches on his scout shirt and hemming his scout pants (of course I need to let them out a bit because I made them too short...NOT THE POINT)
3. I checked on a friend. Found out she needed help and then went to her house to help her.
4. I tried to find the good in every day this week.
     ~The sun shone
~ We were able to buy a few groceries
~ I finished some sewing projects I have put off for way too long
~ I started some new projects that will probably be put off....(he he.)
~ I am currently helping a friend overcome some obstacles in her life.

5. I bought the fish some food. They were hungry
6. I tried to find joy in the journey.
7. I visited with a dear friend.
8. I went on a long bike ride, on which I got wet because of the rain
9. I said goodbye to a friend, but took pictures with her to remember the moments we had together
10. I listened to uplifting music all week.

Today I realize how many good things I have done this week and I wonder if there is another good wave of happiness coming....I sure hope so, I am tired of looking up and seeing Rain clouds.

Hope you have a :0) Day!

I really need to be better about posting on this blog! I have been missing in action for way too long. So what has been up with me lately? Well, I have been working, being a PTA president, Being a mom, A friend, and a Wife.

Sound busy?? Yeah, well of course it does!

This week, I am Happy to report that I have accomplished a lot of things! It is spring break where we are and we are just really enjoying it. I have had time off work, the kids have time off school and we have NOT been bored. The kids have had so much fun this week and I am quite enjoying getting some projects done.

We have gone on a bike ride, Played at the park, spent time outside in the beautiful spring weather we have been having. I am so thankful for the weather and the fun times.

It makes life happy.

Have a Happy Day! :0)

Can being happy be a learned art?? Can you train your mind and your soul to think happy thoughts?? I think it may be possible. See for yourself!

http://www.billionclicks.org

I recently found this site, (maybe because Hilary Weeks is like my most favorite person in the whole world) (next to my husband and family and friends of course). It is an amazing site that has some exciting ideas on how to help train your mind to be happy. I have read some amazing stories about this before, but now SHE HAS A WEBSITE!

I think you should all check it out and start clicking! As soon as I can afford to, I will be investing in a clicker and clicking to my hearts content.

I really hope you will check out this site and let me know what you think...will you be clicking with me??

Happiness

Often I wonder where we get true happiness. Do we have to get it ourselves, or is it something that can come to us on the wings of a butterfly? Is it something that brings us pure joy, or is it just there? I like to believe that it is always there and available to those who look for it. Today has been pretty happy day. I woke up and took a breath of air and was thankful for the life I have been given. I got up and walked to the bathroom and got dressed. I was thankful for the body God has given me and that with the exception of extra weight, I am a pretty healthy person. (when I don't have pneumonia). I am lucky to have such wonderful family and friends. I have three beautiful children and one hunky awesome husband. They all love me. I love them, and I find myself thankful for Love. My most favorite primary song is "My Heavenly Father Loves Me". It reminds me of all the beautiful things in life that bring me happiness. I want to be one who helps spread that happiness. I have been without an internet connection for quite some time now, but I am back and I intend on getting back on my mission to be :0). I want to share the happiness with those I know and don't know. I hope you will all join me on my new mission to be happy. Thanks for reading (if you do)

Too many to count!

I have had many happy moments in the last little while. I will attempt to write as many down as possible.

  • A dear friend came to visit me recently. I have missed her so. It was good to talk to her and catch up a bit. Hopefully we can do that again really soon.
  • Summer has been a success so far. My kids have hardly fought. It has been wonderful.
  • My kids LOVE to read and have loved going to the library.
  • I have had the opportunity to watch a dear friends little 5 month old for a week. She is so precious and I have loved every minute.
  • Visiting with my grandma and my mom. I love to talk to them.
  • Finding out that my kids will be spending a weekend a their grandparents :) Yeah I am a little excited about that one.
  • Knowing we will be able to go on vacation in a few weeks (it was iffy but now is positive)
  • seeing how much my kids have loved helping me this summer. They have been so good
So that about sums it up since the last time I wrote. I hope to have many more positive and happy things happen this summer!

Hope you have a :0) day!

Summertime Happiness

Ah...today was beautiful. I slept in. When I got up and got ready, I paid the rent, went and picked up some paperwork and then took the kids to the park. The fun park, the one with the rocket ship in it...yeah they loved it. Then I took them to Sonic for Happy Hour and then came home....Not a lot done today, but it sure was relaxing and fun.

I love summertime!

If you are happy and you know it, clap your hands!

I am the secretary in our ward primary. I love it. I love being with the kids and getting to know them each individually. It is fun to see them get excited to sing silly songs such as this one. They work hard to learn about the gospel and once in a while they get to just have fun. Wiggle songs make them happy and in turn they make me happy!

Just a thought for today.

Hope you have a :0) day!

NOTHING

Today I got up and went to the gym. Other than that, I did absolutely Nothing! I didn't have to work, I didn't have to get the kids ready for school, so I did Nothing. It was wonderful. I didn't have to be anywhere, I didn't have to do anything, I could just sit. So I did, I let the kids play their video games and watch movies all day. It was so nice to just sit and cuddle with the kids and have them just enjoy being home. Tomorrow, we are going to spend some time outside, but first we are buying SUNSCREEN!!! That is if the sun is actually out again tomorrow!

Hug

Today has been a pretty good day. I worked this morning and talked with some good people, then I went to the office at the school and waited for my daughter to get there. I waited and when she got there she didn't see me at first.....when she finally saw me, she screamed "MOMMY" and ran to jump in my arms and give me a hug.

This happens on a daily basis. I LOVE IT! It makes me feel so good inside knowing that my little three year old missed me and loves me even though I have been gone for a few hours.

I love my cuddles and hugs from my kids. My son wrote me a mothers day card that said, "My favorite thing to do with mommy is to cuddle" AW! I mean he is only 7 but still! AW!!!! I love it.

My 9 year old isn't much of a cuddler anymore but she loves to give hugs just the same. She does have her "I miss my mommy" moments and insists on cuddling.

Needless to say, I love my hugs.

Hope you have a :0) day!

Mothers Day 2011

I usually dislike Mothers day, However this year it was most wonderful. I don't know if it is because of the current mission I am to find the positive things and remember them, or if it is because I finally felt like I was appreciated....needless to say, I enjoyed it this year. My family brought me breakfast in bed. Yummy pancakes topped with fresh strawberries and powdered sugar, bacon, hash browns and orange juice, accompanied with a beautiful pink and white rose. The kids all made beautiful cards and poems. The primary sang to their moms. The ward gave the moms a chocolate bar, and then I came home from church to find a beautiful dinner prepared for me. It was nice to be able to relax and not have to worry about things. It was fun and I really enjoyed it this year.

Hope you have a :0) Day!

Today while the sun shines

Today was a beautiful day, the sun was shining and the kids were so happy to get out of the house, as were my hubby and I! It was so nice to be in the sun and spend the day working together with my husband as we decided to clean out the garage. We got a lot done and hopefully within the next week or so, we will be able to finish the garage. Then maybe we can get stuff in the garage that is in the house and in the way, and maybe even fit the car in there too! Here's hoping! All in all today has been a good day, the kids and I had a recital today as well. It was lots of fun.

Hope you have a :0) day!

Clicker? what do you think?

I recently read a blog talking about being positive about life. As I read I realized that I did not have a positive outlook on life. I decided to start looking for a way to help me achieve that positive outlook and so as I was reading other blogs and looking on the internet for some assurance that I could reach that place in my life, I came upon Hilary Weeks blog. She is absolutely amazing and she has said some things lately that have really stuck with me. I know I have not yet attended TOFW but I intend on going in the fall. She talks about keeping a clicker with her and counting how many times she says something negative, as she is doing it she realizes that she is clicking the clicker a lot more than she thought she would. As the days went by she noticed that the counts on the clicker were going up. She was starting to get more negative. When she realized that things weren't getting better, she decided to start clicking the clicker whenever she had a positive thought. As she did this she found that she was happier each day. I have decided that I am going to try this, but instead of a clicker I am going to use this blog. I think that if I am able to write a blog about all the positive things that are happening each day, that I will be able to achieve that positive outlook in life. Wish me luck and please read my blog and comment when you can and help me to achieve my goal of a more positive outlook on life!

Thanks for reading and I hope you have a :0) day!
